Pip ‘n’ Milly Creations is the brainchild / passion / work-from-home job of Fiona Ballard (that’s me!). I love to make things and my focus is on practical, functional and aesthetically pleasing. I put a lot of care and attention into everything I make – details matter! I shop locally, buy small amounts of each fabric and every item I make is unique. I have no bulk purchasing power, do all my own work and do not operate in the same market as mass-manufactured goods. I accept that handmade, one of a kind items are by nature more expensive, but I believe this is a truer reflection of the real cost of production. I can guarantee that my works truly are one of a kind.
I care about the world we live in and do my best to keep this in mind. I reject the “disposability” of our culture and therefore use repurposed or recyclable packaging where possible. No, I am not using organic cottons at this time, but I do shop locally as much as possible to reduce additional transportation of materials and to support my community.
A key factor in my work is making things which are useful, with practical details like a key clip so you never have to hunt for your keys, pockets for your cellphone, pen and notepad, or indeed any combination of pockets necessary! I also strive to make my bags at least as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. It makes me happy to open my bags! I hope those who purchase my bags will be as proud to carry them as I am to make them.
